Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Salkantay Pampa

The adventure begins early in the morning with pick-up from your accommodation in Cusco. We travel by private transport for approximately 3.5 hours to Soraypampa (3,850 m / 12,631 ft), stopping in Mollepata along the way to enjoy a nutritious breakfast.

Upon arrival in Soraypampa, we start our hike toward Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,779 ft). The trail takes about 2 hours and is considered low to moderate difficulty, offering spectacular views of the snow-capped Humantay and Salkantay peaks. Horse rental is available for those who prefer assistance (optional).

At the lake, you will have plenty of time to explore, take photos, and participate in a traditional Andean offering to the Apus, honoring Pachamama (Mother Earth).

After free time at the lake, we begin our descent toward Salkantay Pampa, a scenic hike of approximately 3 hours. Upon arrival at our base camp, located at the foot of Salkantay Pass, our cook will welcome us with a delicious Andean lunch.

In the afternoon, you can relax and enjoy the mountain surroundings before sharing a warm dinner prepared by our chefs, followed by an unforgettable bonfire under the stars.

Overnight at Salkantay Pampa campsite.

Day 2: Salkantay Pampa – Salkantay Pass – Cusco

We start the day early with breakfast, preparing for one of the most impressive stages of the trek. The ascent to Salkantay Pass, located beneath the majestic Salkantay Mountain (6,271 m / 20,574 ft)—the second-highest peak in Cusco—is challenging but deeply rewarding.

The hike from Salkantay Pampa to the pass takes approximately 2 hours, surrounded by glaciers, towering peaks, and dramatic Andean landscapes. At Salkantay Pass, you will have time to rest, take photos, and participate in a moment of spiritual connection with Pachamama, guided by trained staff.

After enjoying the pass, we descend back to our campsite for a final lunch. In the afternoon, we begin our return journey to Cusco, arriving in the city in the evening.
